Trend Setters Hair Studio and Day Spa started its journey Feb 15^th 1997. My wife Sonya, a rising star as a Hair Stylist had worked in the location for 4 years previously. We decided to take over, and make some major changes….what an adventure it has been!

The spot we took over was lacking business structure, systems and décor. Right away we went to work, trying to improve everything all at once. We added a guest services department, which was a new process at the time, a salon software system, stand up Tanning and Body Piercing. We spent countless nights making changes to our location, improving lighting, improving the Esthetics services we offered at the time and renovating our location to make it more modern and user friendly.

As expected we grew very fast, we wanted to move from a single room to do Esthetics in, to a more complete experience. I studied many, many spa magazines for inspiration, and finally, made a plan on paper. We took over the location next to us, added Laser Esthetics, Aromatherapy Oxygen doubling our size to just over 2400sq ft, and started building what we now call our Day Spa. We renovated and changed our Day Spa serval times, trying different configuration’s to make everything work just right.

After years of renovations and changes, our small but efficient Day Spa now consists of 5 rooms. Our 1^st treatment room is dedicated to Waxing, Tinting and Lash Perming, our 2nd treatment room is dedicated to Waxing, Tinting, Lash perming, and Laser Esthetics. We have a dedicated Pedicure room with two Pedicure chairs, with marble and granite tile to the top of our door frames. We have a couple’s room with massage tables, where we perform relaxation Massages, Facials and Body Wraps. We built an Aromatherapy Steam room that backs onto our Treatment room #2 and Couples room for easy access. Our Manicure, Gel Nail and Make-Up area is adjacent to our Hair Studio floor for greater visibility and flow.

Our signature services in our Spa is any of our Pedicures. We offer our Chocolate Lovers Pedicure, which comes with a Chocolate Fondue of mandarin oranges, bananas, pretzels and gummy bears, our Spa Pedicure comes with your choice of paraffin wax and 15mins of Aromatherapy Oxygen, and our newest pedicure, our Wine and Cheese Pedicure! Our spa manager Cassy is a CMP; or Certified Master Pedicurist. Cassy and her staff use Podology tools and practice advance foot care techniques. We are also very proud to boast we use an Autoclave to properly sterilize all of our tools which allows us to advertise we actually offer Hospital Grade Sterilization.

You did read right earlier, we legally serve alcohol! As far as we know, we are the first and only Day Spa in B.C to be fully licenced. We learned a year or so ago, from the Liquor Control Board after giving out free Wine for nearly 19 years, giving away alcohol complementary is very illegal, so, we went by the book and got a licence to do it legally. Our clients are enjoying the freedom to indulge from time to time, without any fear of getting anyone in hot water!

Over the years we have seen many trends come and go, we have tried to learn from our mistakes, albeit, very slowly. We have worked with some great people and continue to do so, we look forward to many more years, continuing to push ourselves to offer the best client experience we can and to create new standards in customer service and hospitality.

OxyGeneo also exfoliates the skin and is much gentler than microdermabrasion. The ingredients of the Capsugen are strategically utilized as the roughened surface to exfoliate with the vibrating head of the machine. They interact with the nutrient gel placed on your skin, creating a wet, foamy treatment that cleanses, exfoliates and even gets into deep pores. OxyGeneo is not done on dry skin and there is no vacuum or suctioning like there is with microdermabrasion.

Additional benefits of skin tightening can be achieved using Radiofrequency (RF) technology which is also available on the same machine. RF tightens the skin anywhere on the face such as on the cheeks or even around the eyes.

What results can someone expect from this treatment?

OxyGeneo is a strong effective treatment with no downtime. There may be just mild redness after the treatment which quickly resolves. In comparison, other treatments with high efficacy usually have downtime.

Christel also has her Level 1 CMP (Certified Master Pedicurist) designation with the North American School of Podology (one of the few in the province) and has obtained her Management Certification at the University of Winnipeg. Within 6 months of opening Charisma’s doors, Christel was invited to join Eminence Organic Skin Care as a Training Specialist. A few months later, Christel was personally invited by the President of Eminence Organic Skin Care, Boldijarre Koronczay, to take on the role of Regional Education & Sales Representative in Saskatchewan. Now 3 years into her role, Christel loves traveling and sharing her passion, product knowledge and education with other spa partners throughout the province.
