It’s time to embrace living. Is it just me, or have you noticed friends around you or colleagues at work engaged in conversations related to career choices or life decisions they may have made.
We subconsciously catch ourselves raking over thoughts of the road less traveled with the wonderment of the “what ifs” or “should-have, could-have, would have”.
You are not alone! Embrace living!
Recently, a Facebook friend shared a YouTube video with me that was emotionally exhilarating and spiritually humbling. The premise ‘a simple story’ telling the viewer of a not so uncommon parable that money doesn’t buy us happiness. Six minutes of interviews touch on the lives of various famous people ranging from singers, runway models, to TV actors. Their synchronized epiphany becomes bold and clear. They had bought into a belief system that fame and fortune would bring about the abundance of joy, bliss and happiness. Instead, it delivered them face to face with bitterness and doubt along with a sense of soullessness about what they do for a living. The moral to the video is how they all find out how to make a life, not just a living. (Contact me for the video link.)
One of my mentors, Kate Northrup, eloquently stated: “It doesn’t matter how many trappings of “success” we’ve accumulated: everyone feels small sometimes.”
This life mirroring moment represents how hard wired we can become believing that ‘only one’ is to be the sole survivor in the game of life and become money making machines in its wake. These false objectives are seductively wrapped with glitter and glam telling us this is who we should be…or is it?
Here is what I suggest you do. When walking and talking around the spa Show room floor or other venues of its type, try to identify with exhibitors promoting their integrity. Not only is it exhilarating to witness the love and devotion of what they represent, but you can extend upon this entrepreneurial vibe and energy bringing it into your career. These moments are transformational and can be deeply savored through a lifetime.
I strongly urge you to try this experience! Never oppress authenticity; we were not made to be pitted up against each to stand alone. We are here to share our knowledge, provide our experiences and make a life worth living.
Namaste
